How to Tell if Your Fish Table Is Being Cheated: 9 Telltale Signs

Detecting fish table cheating requires knowing what to look for. Based on my work across 200+ venues, these 9 signs are the most reliable indicators that your fish table is being cheated.

1. The same player wins every session on the same machine. If a player never has a losing session over many visits, cheating is almost certain. 2. Payout percentage drifts upward over time. The machine’s programmed payout rate is fixed. If the actual rate consistently exceeds it, cheating is occurring. 3. Bonus events trigger without the player meeting the in-game conditions. Signal injection can trigger bonuses that the player did not earn. 4. The machine registers credits without any coin or bill insertion. Fake pulse injection or zapper attacks cause this. 5. A player spends extended time at a machine without actively playing. They may be waiting for a signal injection device to cycle. 6. The machine behaves erratically — resets during play, shows diagnostic screens. Trojan code access can cause these symptoms. 7. Wireless devices are found near the machine. Jammers, receivers, or tap devices may be hidden under seats, behind cabinets, or taped to the machine. 8. Daily cash reconciliation shows a consistent gap. A gap of 5%+ between machine meter and cash box is strong evidence. 9. One player accounts for a disproportionate share of total payouts. If 5% of your players account for 30%+ of payouts, investigate.

If your fish table is showing signs of any of the 9 signs listed above, send me a message with your machine model and a photo of your setup. I will do a quick remote check for free.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Which sign is the most reliable indicator?
A: Sign 8 — the cash gap. Hard data does not lie. If the cash gap exceeds 5%, you have a cheating problem regardless of what your staff or players say.

Q: How many signs need to be present before I take action?
A: One confirmed sign is enough. The Gen2 device blocks most attacks regardless of which specific sign you observed.

Q: Can these signs be caused by factors other than cheating?
A: Signs 4, 5, 6, 7, and 9 are strongly correlated with cheating. Signs 1, 2, 3, and 8 can sometimes have alternative explanations — verify with additional observation.

Q: What should I do if I see multiple signs?
A: Install anti-cheat protection immediately. The signs indicate active cheating that is costing you money now.
