Testing your arcade machines for hidden cheating devices does not require specialized skills. This guide covers the testing process that any operator can perform.
The Visual Inspection
Open the cabinet and inspect all cables from the motherboard to each peripheral. Look for extra devices clipped onto cables, unusual tape or wrappings, or wires that do not connect to any factory component. Use a flashlight to check dark corners and behind components where devices can be hidden.
The Coin Mech Test
Drop a known coin and verify that the machine registers exactly one credit. Then activate the machine without a coin by pressing the play button. If the machine starts without a coin, there is likely a signal injection device attached to the coin mech line.
The Data Line Test
For machines with ticket dispensers, compare the ticket serial numbers in the dispenser log against the numbers in the payout log. Missing serial numbers indicate data interception. Also check the communication cable for inline devices between the machine and the dispenser.
The Signal Test
If you have access to a known test signal source, activate it near the machine. If the machine responds with a payout or credit, there is a signal vulnerability. Contact me for guidance on obtaining a suitable test signal.
