Honest Review: 1st Gen vs. 2nd Gen Anti-Cheat Devices Tested

I tested 1st generation and 2nd generation anti-cheat devices side by side to provide an honest comparison. This review covers the real differences, not the marketing claims.

Test Setup

I installed one Gen1 and one Gen2 device on identical machines in the same venue. Both machines were the same model, had the same settings, and were exposed to the same cheating environment. The test ran for 30 days.

Detection Comparison

The Gen2 detected 28% more signal events than the Gen1. The difference came from two sources: the Gen2’s wider frequency range caught attacks on bands the Gen1 does not cover, and the Gen2’s continuous monitoring caught brief EMP pulses that the Gen1’s periodic scanning missed.

Coverage Comparison

The Gen2 covered 2-3 machines per device. The Gen1 covered 1-2 machines. For a 10-machine venue, 4 Gen2 devices would be sufficient versus 7 Gen1 devices. The Gen2 approach costs less overall despite the higher per-device price.

Verdict

The Gen2 is the better choice for most operators. The Gen1 remains a good option for small venues with tight machine layouts and limited budgets.
