How to Choose Between V5 and K8 Anti-Theft Dog for Your Setup

Choosing between the V5 and K8 anti-theft dog devices depends on your specific setup and requirements. This guide covers the key differences and helps you decide which device is right for your top ball machines.

Coverage Range

The V5 covers 5-8 meters and is designed for venues with multiple top ball machines in a row or cluster. One V5 can protect 3-5 machines arranged along a wall or counter. The K8 is designed for single-machine protection with a tighter coverage radius. If you have a row of machines, choose the V5. If you have standalone machines in different locations, choose the K8.

Installation Differences

The V5 is typically mounted outside the cabinet near the machine cluster. It is larger and more visible, which can serve as a deterrent. The K8 is compact enough to fit inside the machine cabinet, making it less visible but also less of a deterrent. Both connect inline with the existing communication cable using standard connectors.

Cost Considerations

The V5 costs more per unit but protects multiple machines. The K8 costs less per unit but protects only one machine. For a venue with 10 top ball machines in a row, one V5 may be sufficient. For a venue with 10 machines spread across different areas, you may need up to 10 K8 devices.

Hybrid Approach

Many operators use both. A V5 covers the main row of machines, while K8 devices protect standalone machines in other areas. This hybrid approach balances coverage and cost.
