5 Steps to Calculate Your Arcade’s Cheating Loss Rate

Calculating your arcade’s cheating loss rate gives you a baseline for measuring the effectiveness of your anti-cheat protection. This 5-step guide covers the calculation process.

Step 1: Collect 30 Days of Data

Pull payout logs and cash intake records for all machines for the last 30 days. A 30-day period provides enough data to distinguish cheating losses from normal variance. Shorter periods are unreliable. Longer periods may include changes in machine settings that affect the numbers.

Step 2: Calculate Per-Machine Deviation

For each machine, calculate the percentage difference between cash intake and payout log. The formula is: (Payout Log – Cash Intake) / Cash Intake * 100. A positive result means the machine paid out more than it collected. Above 3% is generally considered suspicious.

Step 3: Calculate Venue-Wide Loss Rate

Sum the deviations across all machines and divide by the total number of machines. This gives you your venue-wide average loss rate. A venue-wide rate above 3% suggests systemic issues that go beyond individual machine problems.

Step 4: Identify Loss Sources

Separate machines into two groups: those above 3% deviation and those below. Machines above 3% are the primary loss sources. Investigate these machines for cheating, hardware faults, or configuration errors.

Step 5: Track Over Time

Calculate the loss rate monthly and track it over time. A decreasing trend after installing anti-cheat protection confirms that the devices are working. A steady or increasing trend indicates that additional protection or investigation is needed.

If your arcade machine is showing signs of cheating losses, send me a message with your machine model and a photo of your setup. I will do a quick remote check for free. Every device comes with a money-back guarantee, official invoice, express shipping, and 1-on-1 technical support.
