Running a full arcade anti-cheat audit might sound overwhelming, but it follows a logical sequence. This 10-step process covers everything from data collection to reporting.
Step 1: Gather Financial Data
Collect cash intake records and machine payout logs for all machines for the last 30 days. You need individual machine data, not venue totals. This is the foundation of the audit.
Step 2: Calculate Deviations
For each machine, calculate the percentage difference between cash intake and payout log. Sort by deviation size. Machines above 3% are your priority targets for investigation.
Step 3: Review Anti-Cheat Logs
Export event logs from all anti-cheat devices. Count blocked events per machine per day. Compare against previous periods to identify trends.
Step 4: Inspect Physical Security
Walk the floor and inspect every machine cabinet for signs of forced entry, broken tamper seals, or unauthorized modifications. Check cable connections for tap devices.
Step 5: Interview Staff
Ask floor staff about any observations they have made: unusual player behavior, devices held near machines, players who win consistently. Staff often know more than they report.
Step 6: Cross-Reference Data
Cross-reference blocked event timestamps with payout log entries. Correlations confirm that the blocks are protecting against real threats. Cross-reference staff observations with both.
Step 7: Check Device Coverage
Verify that all anti-cheat devices are within their specified coverage range of the machines they are supposed to protect. Devices moved during cleaning may no longer be positioned correctly.
Step 8: Identify Gaps
Identify any machines that are not within range of an active anti-cheat device. These are unprotected and vulnerable. Plan to add coverage for these machines.
Step 9: Create Action Plan
Based on the audit findings, create a prioritized action plan: fix configuration errors, add protection to uncovered machines, replace or reposition devices that are not functioning correctly.
Step 10: Schedule Follow-Up
Schedule the next full audit in 90 days. In the interim, continue weekly log reviews and daily cash reconciliations. Regular monitoring catches new issues between full audits.
